Vote Now for your Favourite 2012 MunchTime Story

I have previously blogged about the Munchtime Story Telling competition here, well the competition is now over and Munchtime are asking us the public to vote for our favourite story. Munchtime were overwhelmed this year by the creativity and quality of the entries received. Their judges have found it incredibly difficult to choose but they have shortlisted it down to 10 stories which features munch the cow and some exciting adventures, all we need to do is select our best one by visiting the munchtime website to ‘vote’ for it. I have read all of the stories myself and have found it hard to pick a favourite, there really is some brilliant stories and poems to read, so i think i will leave it down to the boys to choose one. All of the stories are aimed for young children so it’s a lovely time to take a peek and read through some original stories to share with your little ones. The writer with the most votes will be crowned the ‘Overall Winner’ of the competition and the three writers with the next highest votes will become the ‘Runners Up’. The winner won’t be the only one to win a cash prize, their local library will also receive a donation.

The competition, by Munch Bunch yoghurts, is in its fourth year and aims to highlight and celebrate the importance of parents bonding with their toddlers and young children over story time and give burgeoning writers the opportunity to shine. Previous Munch Time story winners have subsequently secured publishing deals and established successful careers in writing.

Child psychologist Dr Richard Woolfson, who has been involved with the ‘Munch Time’ story writing competition for the last three years, says:

“This year’s entries have been of the highest standard. Creating stories is a wonderfully creative and rewarding activity for parents to enjoy with their little ones. Story time with very young children is not just beneficial for their intellectual development, it is a magical opportunity to bond, which even the busiest of parents should make time for.”

PLUS– All voters will automatically be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win one of fifty Waterstones £10 Book Vouchers. Voting starts today 2nd July and closes at midnight on Sunday 22nd July 2012, with the winning story to be unveiled early August. So what are you waiting for?!

Budding children’s authors have just one week left to enter the annual Munch Time story writing competition. A recent survey by Munch Bunch revealed 62% of parents enjoy making up stories for their little ones. If you’re one, then just write a short story (600-800 words) that would appeal to young children – and features Munch the Cow, the opening line should be “Once upon a munch time, there was a cow called Munch”.
