The boys and I made some of our own paints today with some everyday ingredients that you will have in your kitchen cupboards and whats even better is that they are edible too so no worries if the little one accidentally puts it into their mouths.
Ingredients:
- Half a cup of cornflour
- 2 cups of water
- 3 tbsp Sugar
- Half a tsp Salt
- Food colouring of your choice
- 1 saucepan
- Storage Jar
Place all of the dry ingredients into the saucepan (I used an old small saucepan) then add the water and mix together over a low heat until the consistency starts to get a bit thick
add in the food colouring and continue to stir until it is all combined together and is nice and thick.
You must continually stir as it will start to become thick just at the bottom of the mixture
We chose to add blue colouring and we was very happy with the outcome
Pour the mixture into a storage jar and wait until it cools to use
The younger boys did some paintings outside with the paint, it was easy to wash off and was a very nice strong colour, it also dried really well.
And just to prove that it will not harm anyone, Jak did a little testing
The paint also works well in the bath or as finger paints.
