A letter to Santa Claus #craft

You better watch out
You better not cry
Better not pout
I’m telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
He’s making a list
And checking it twice;
Gonna find out Who’s naughty and nice
Santa Claus is coming to town
He sees you when you’re sleeping
He knows when you’re awake
He knows if you’ve been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake!
O! You better watch out!
You better not cry
Better not pout
I’m telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
Santa Claus is coming to town

With only 31 sleeps till Christmas and for Santa to be shimering his way down our soot filled chimney, the boys have been thinking of their letter to Santa, of coarse they don’t need any persuasion in do this as they enjoy looking through the Argos and Smyths catalogues for some ideas on what they are hoping Santa will bring them this year.

I know they are hoping for an Xbox 360 and some new books plus the odd Lego and moshi monster product but its always fun to write a letter to the man that wears the red suit.

This year I have made special little felt envelopes for them to place their letter into, we will place them on the Christmas tree sprinkle them with special christmas magic dust so that Santa will get them in time for the 24th December and hopefully the boys have been good enough and have made it to the nice list so when they wake up on Christmas Day and they make their way down the stairs to see if their wishes have come true.

You will need :
Red Felt
Red Cotton
Pen To With
Velcro or Press Stud
Craft pieces to make a Stamp

Cut out a tall house shape on the felt.
Fold it in half but leave the triangle shape on top (finding it hard to explain, see pics below)
Stitch down the sides
Fold over the triangle and attach a press stud or Velcro to keep the flap o the envelope down
Write on the front of the envelope
Make a stamp, we used a small piece of foam and stuck on a star

You could attach some string to them and hang them as decorations from the tree.

The boys not only have an envelope that they can use year after year but also somewhere special that their letter to Santa will be stored.

Oreo Snowman

Brilliant idea for children to do and tasty too just in time for the Christmas holidays

The boys made some Oreo Snowmen today from, chocolate, biscuits and sweets to decorate. They had lots of fun melting the chocolate and getting messy with decorating the snowmen.

To make Oreo Snowmen you will need:-

Oreo biscuits (or similar)
White chocolate (milkybar)
Food to decorate such as raisins, mini smarties, strawberry winders, milk chocolate chips, cake sprinklers or anything you fancy

1. Melt your chocolate in a bowl over a pan of hot water or like we did in our fondae set

2. Dip in your Oreo biscuits and cover one side completely with the melted white chocolate

3. Before it sets decorate the biscuit any way you want to
We used :
Raisins for eyes
Orange Mini Smarties for the nose
Milk chocolate, popping candy, winders, cake toppings for the mouth
Strawberry winders made the hats and scarves

4. Place in the fridge to set

And all that’s left is to enjoy!

What do you think of the boys efforts of making Oreo snowmen?

I tasted one and they were delicious!

Christmas stories for children with Egmont Review

With christmas fast approaching us parents will be thinking of what goodies we will be buying our little ones. When i buy presents for my boys i like to buy a couple of big ones and lots of little ones and most often than not their favourite presents would be the ones that they pull out of their stockings. If your children are anything like my boys and love to read books then i have the perfect addition to go into their stockings or rather Egmont have the answer.

The boys were sent three brand new christmas story books featuring a favourite of popular characters, Thomas The Tank Engine, Everythings Rosie and Mr Men. All three would attract any child’s eye as they are shiny, bright and sparkly. I really like the size of them as well as joseph has small hands so the are perfect size for him to handle. When we opened up the package Joseph immediately picked up the Thomas book as this is and has been his favourite character since he was one years old. He got very excited and couldnt wait to listen to the story.

In the new Christmas special ‘Snowy Tracks’ The island of Sodor is covered in a thick blanket of snow and the engines have been told to be careful and not to go over any big hills. Gordon doesn’t listen, he’s sure that he’ll be strong enough to steam over every hill he comes to. But it isn’t long before Gordon finds out that snow is much more dangerous than it looks!
Joseph loved this story, he was shouting at the exciting parts especially the part of the story where the big heavy snowball bashed into Thomas but he knew that Thomas’s friends would soon come to help him.

The next book is Mr Men Meet Father Christmas. Little Miss Tiny secretly wishes she could visit Father Christmas but she doesn’t expect her wish to come true. But magical things really do happen at Christmas and crazy things too when you’re with the Mr. Men and the Little Miss! The story takes you on a christmas journey where Mr Daydream takes little Miss Tiny to the North Pole on the way they meet some and see some interesting characters and places Like celebrating sheep, yellow snow, sneezing elves and a very sooty Father Christmas.
This story is fabulous for Christmas and has a lovely magical feel to it, great to read as a bedtime story.

The last book is Rosie and Raggles Star in The Last Snowball.
This is my personal favourite of the three and i was slightly worried that because it had a picture of Rosie on the front of the book that Joseph wouldn’t want to listen to the story, but i should have known better, Joseph loved it just a much as any other book.
Winter is over and Big Beat wakes up from his winter sleep, he’s sad to find that he’s missed out on all the fun that snow can bring. Rosie and her friends do everything they can to do recreate winter fun, but sledging and snow angels don’t work without snow. The friends gather together and come up with a lovely idea.
This is a lovely story about friendship and making and recording memories. The story really a has a feel good factor and makes you smile.

All three of these books I would definitely recommend and priced at £2.99 each they are the ideal gift for a special little someone. To find out more about these books take a look at Egmont website

Your child can also star in their very own story book with Egmont. Create your child as a character and you can even pick a friend to join them. These special unique personalised gifts start at £7.99. Take a look at www.egmont.co.uk/personalisedbooks for more information.

Christmas Aftermath

The Christmas Clear Up

Ok so Christmas is over and now we have one more festive occasion to look forward to, New Years Eve.
After weeks of decorating up our houses up with tinsel, trees, lights, baubles, little Xmas ornaments, singing teddies and whatever else I have missed out, we now need to pack it all up in boxes and black bags and put into the loft ready to gather dust and to be pulled out again for next Christmas.
Not only do I have my decorations that i have had up this year I have the new decorations that I have bought in the Christmas sales to be used next year to be put away too.
I don’t know about you but my loft is so unorganised, I have boxes and bags of stuff all over the place, I probably even have, actually no I’m sure that I have decorations up there that have got missed placed over the years. Every December I search the loft, sifting through all the stuff up there looking for the bags that have ‘xmas’ written all over them and every December it gets less and less that I bring down.
So all my decs are put away and now my living room looks bare and for the first time in a month, nice and tidy lol (which won’t stay like that for long knowing my three boys).
Joseph was actually quite shocked when he came downstairs after my tidy up, he said ‘oh mum it’s lovely and clean, wow’ Cheeky little thing.
So the living room is done and now I have to tackle the boys bedroom, I have to find places for the new things that they got for Christmas.
There wardrobes are all ready packed up with things that they got last year and haven’t even opened. Luckily this year I asked family for clothes or books for them so I don’t have to make much room for them.
Hopefully this time tomorrow my house will be clean and tidy (as long as I keep the boys out of it) with no sign of Christmas in it ready for seeing the new year in.

Christmas day

Hi guys
As Christmas is fast approaching, what ideas do you have for keeping the the family together on Christmas day?
I don’t know about you but I love to do things with my children on Christmas day, I like to spend the day watching a good movie, playing some family board games, like charades and our special one monopoly, we also like to have a sing song on the karaoke 🙂
I’m looking for new ideas for me, the other half and my three boys, any suggestions?
