I have been out of hospital for 2 and a half weeks now and each day is a day closer to becoming stronger. When I was released I was very weak, extremely underweight and in lots of pain. Walking around used up all my energy and I could only manage a few minutes at a time. I couldn’t stand still for as my legs became too wobbly to take the weight of my body. I had to be carried up the stairs and I slept downstairs on the sofa. I padded out the sofa with a mattress topper and double duvet to make it softer and more comfortable for me to lay on. With my bones sticking out my skin became sore. I couldn’t sit down on my bottom unless sitting on a cushion.
Two weeks since coming home and I can now walk around the house, cook, bake walk up and down the stairs, sit on the sofa, sit at the table and even have a bath. My appetite is back and I am eating all the time.
The weight is going on slowly. The muscles are gradually coming back, with more movement I take. The skin isn’t as flabby and I am filling out a little more. I am still very much underweight but I am far more better than I was 2 weeks ago.
This is me right now.
