A Christmas Star

The feel-good family film of the year, spreading a truly special Christmas message…

 star

This Christmas, prepare to believe in miracles as Belfast-based children’s charity Cinemagic and Signature Entertainment present A Christmas Star, released in UK cinemas nationwide from 13th November, 2015 and on DVD, Blu-Ray, EST and VOD from 23rd November, 2015.

Staring film and TV’s elite, A Christmas Star tells the heartwarming story of Noel, a spirited young who embarks on a magical journey to save her friends and family. Newcomer Erin Galway-Kendrick and a host of actors including Pierce Brosnan (James Bond), Suranne Jones (TV’s Scott & Bailey, Doctor Foster), Robert James-Collier (TV’s Downton Abbey, Coronation Street), Bronagh Waugh (Hollyoaks, The Fall), and Richard Clements (A Belfast Story). The film is narrated by Liam Neeson (Taken, A Walk Among The Tombstones) and features a cameo from Kylie Minogue and guest appearance from Dermot O’Leary.

Born in dramatic circumstances under the Christmas Star, Noel believes she has the gift to perform strange miracles. When conniving developer McKerrod threatens her peaceful life she teams up with a misfit gang of local kids to save the village from demolition.  However, one by one her friends lose faith in Noelle’s abilities and she is left to fight McKerrod on her own. The town’s future hinges on a final showdown in Belfast’s historic Stormont building as Noelle implores politicians, her friends and the watching world to believe in the true meaning of Christmas…love.

‘The innovative film production gave budding young actors the chance to star alongside movie legends. Over 40 trainee crew aged 18 – 25 were mentored by industry professionals who trained them in all aspects of filmmaking including director Richard Elson (M.I. High, Steffi), award-winning film composer Patrick Doyle (Brave, Rise of the Planet of the Apes), music supervisor Maggie Rodford, (The King’s Speech, Anna Karenina), casting director Ros Hubbard, (The Commitments, Dracula Untold), camera operator, Ian Fox, (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Amazing Spider-Man), producer Iain Smith, (Children of Men, Mad Max: Fury Road) and production manager, Terry Bamber (The Man from U.N.C.L.E, Skyfall), who all took a break from their own shooting schedules to mentor the trainees.’

Cinemagic patron and Oscar-winning writer, Julian Fellowes, said: “I am proud to be associated with the fantastic work that Cinemagic has been delivering for twenty five years. We are told on every side that it’s time to lower barriers and cross frontiers and this is exactly what Cinemagic is doing.” He added: “Young people, from every type of background and culture, are being encouraged to explore the world of film for themselves, first hand. We want them to break through the glass ceilings and walls that surround them, and see for themselves what it’s really like. Whether or not they continue to live or work in the Arts, there can surely be no better preparation for seeking and finding the right life.”

Cinemagic Chief Executive, Joan Burney Keatings, MBE said: “Our Christmas feature film has brought young people from different cultural backgrounds together, and representatives from the worlds of film, television and music collaborated to celebrate creativity and highlights the importance of developing young people’s skills and offering them unique film and television related opportunities. We are enormously proud and excited to bring this to cinemas nationwide for all the family to enjoy this Christmas.”

I’m giving away a copy of the DVD to one lucky winner. Enter below. Ends 12/12/15 midnight. Uk entries only please.

Thomas the Tank Engine was created by a father for his son 69 years ago and today is enjoyed by families in more than 185 territories and in 30 languages. The little blue engine and his friends invite children to enter into a world of imagination through the tracks of a train and the words of a story.

All three of my children have adored Thomas & Friends. The youngest can recite which colour, number and name the trains are, he builds tracks around the house all the time and makes up his own little adventures, his imagination runs wild.

To find out more about Thomas & Friends visit their website.

Good Luck!

About Shelter:

4 million families could be one paycheck away from losing their homes. In the UK, it is reported that a family lose their home every 11 minutes. Shelter is a charity that campaign for housing rights and against homelessness. They provide practical housing advice and support online, in person and over the phone – from dealing with mortgage arrears through to helping people find a place to stay. Most importantly, they
campaign to tackle the root causes of the housing crisis, which affecting more families each and every day. Last year alone, not only did they manage to re-home those unfortunate enough to find themselves on the streets, they managed to get legislation signed off that will impact masses of families throughout the UK. For example, they secured concessions to bedroom tax for foster carers and families of armed forces personnel and severely disabled children. They also won legislation giving renters the right to complain when things go wrong, not to mention the eviction of rogue landlords. When things go wrong, it’s easy to bury your head in the sand. Shelter exists to provide specialist, free, confidential advice and solutions to keep families from ending up on the streets.

Joe Browns Review and £50 Voucher Giveaway

As the weather has been getting warmer and summer is nearing I have been on the look out for some lovely cool summer dresses that I can wear for the school run and for work, as I work in a school they obviously need to appropriate wear….not too short, no bare shoulders and a big thing is comfort.

Joe Browns have gorgeous unusual clothes and a huge selection of different types of dresses to suit all, most of them have big and bold prints on them, some are cute little summer dresses to suit daytime or evening. I’m not really a print type of girl but I definitely don’t like boring, as I was scanning through the dress page on their webpage I found the perfect dress for me, the Luscious Linen costing £39.95

With a loose fitting style it was perfect for my job at school, it looked cool and with the embroidery at the front, very cute.

I quickly ordered the dress and within a couple of days it had arrived, wrapped in tissue paper i ripped it open and couldn’t wait to try it on. I had ordered a size 8, my size ranges from 6-8, I have a 26.5″ waist and a 30″ bust, I normally find it hard buying clothes that fit me perfectly. The dress was very loose and didn’t flatter ma at all, with my skinny frame it just hung on me, I made a big mistake when ordering the dress as I didn’t look at the measurements in the description. It looked really cute on the model but then again she probably wasn’t short with no bust! lol

I took the dress in at the sides from under the arm down the the hem, by about an inch either side and found that it was an ideal loose fit now.

The material is soft making the dress very comfortable and with the loose fitting it is ideal for those hot sticky days.

I absolutely adore the detail at the front of the dress, the embroidered lace yolk and the cute little wooden buttons (which are just for the design and not usable) The dress is beautifully made and the little added embroidered lace around the bottom of the dress makes it just that extra special. The yolk on the top back of the dress has some pin tucks in it which gives it extra gathering when the belt is tied.

20140708-062544.jpgEven with the little belt tied up it still feels very loose and has lots of movement in it

I teamed the dress up with a pair of golden jellies and a 3/4 sleeve lace cardigan for work and not once did i feel restricted whilst working, not only does it look comfortable it IS comfortable to wear. The length is perfect as it reaches just at knee level (i’m 3′ 4″) especially if your a very active person, It’s ideal clothing for my work as I am up an down on the carpet, running around with children and bending down at tables.

I was asked to choose an outfit to review but have also been given a £50 voucher to give away to one of my lucky follower/readers. If you would like to be in with a chance of winning the voucher to spend on line at Joe Browns then follow all of the options on the rafflecopter form below.
