Thomas and Friends MINIS Motorised Raceway review

Calling all Thomas and Friends little engineers… Thomas and James need help to choose which track to take down the from the mountain.
My little boy loves Thomas and Friends and loves to set up his vast amount of track in the garden and play away for hours at an end, sending trains around the track and helping them on their way. So you could imagine his excitement when he notices A Thomas and Friends toy had been delivered for him to play and test out.
20171124_053818
He has quite a few MINIS in his collection as he went through a stage of buying the little collectible bags, which he normally carries around in his little rucksack or put into his pockets when we are going out somewhere. Because of their size, they are ideal for children to collect and carry about with them.
He couldn’t wait to test it out and was soon begging me to open it for him.
We found the instructions easy to follow, although assembling it was a little tricky for him to do.
20171109_191936
He followed the step by step colourful picture instructions and found the parts with no problems.
20171109_192039
I then helped him to put it together, some parts had to be pushed in until they clicked and needed a bit of a firm push. To be fair they was pointed out on the instructions sheet by marking it with a little yellow star, these parts can not be taken apart once fitted together. The whole process of labeling the stickers, fixing the track together and placing the batteries in took us about 15 minutes.
20171109_192242
The set comes with two Mini trains; Thomas and James and as we quickly worked out that the other Minis all fit on too.
The raceway is great fun. The adventure starts when you send the trains up the steep vertical lift, which the minis climb up automatically. The bottom of the train attaches to a small little black hook on the motorised track.
20171124_053245
Once they reach the top, you then need to choose which track to send them back down on, using the hand switch at the top.
20171109_195121
The minis can go in three directions.
The first track is the waterfall, as the mini travels down it heads straight into a 360 degree loop
20171109_195231
The next track is a free-fall, it seems that the track is broken, but have no fear as the minis jump the gap and land safely on the bottom track.
20171124_053436
Use Cranky the crane to safe the minis by swiveling him around and swooping him down to catch them before they fall
20171124_053650
The trains have hooks and eyes on either end so they can hook together or on to Cranky
The last track seems to be heading no where, as soon as the minis arrive at the top of the lift they roll off of the edge, defying gravity and rolling upside down along the track. The track is  T-shaped which, when aligns with the bottom of the mini, keeps the mini securely on so it doesn’t fall off.
I’m not sure that my son has a favourite track to send the minis down on as they are all fast and thrilling. 20171109_195231
He certainly enjoys being the engineer and changing the choice of track each time a mini arrives at the top, but you have to be fast as they travel along them tracks as fast as lightening. It definitely is full steam ahead with these minis.
At the bottom of the raceway are two sheds where you can store two minis when not playing with it.
20171124_053546
The only downside to this toy is that when switched on it can be a little noisy and the track direction changer is a little stiff to turn, but that could be a good thing as then it doesn’t slip around when you don’t want it to. Also, it doesn’t pack away back into the box -it has to stay erected.
The raceway requires 3AA batteries, we used rechargeable ones and have been playing with it for just over a  week now and they have showed no signs of running out yet. The first day my son played with it for hours and has kept on playing with it daily.
The raceway is bright and colourful to attract the eye of a young child. It is sturdy and easy to move around from room to room. We found the Minis raceway to be fun and entertaining.
The raceway is suitable for ages 3+
RRP £44.99

Getting bowled over at Num Noms Series 4 Launch Party

Just over a week ago the boys were invited along to celebrate the launch of series 4 Num Noms at All Stars Lanes in Shoreditch.

20170917_135936

Although Num Noms are predominantly branded towards girls, my son loves to play with them. He sees beyond the female orientated branding and really enjoys playing with the Little collectible characters. He doesn’t see it as being just for girls. So, when we received the party invite, I had a very happy little boy who could not wait to meet the new Num Noms in series 4.

Nums are little squishy characters that smell like their namesake and Noms are lip balms and stamps.

Series 4 bring a new menu of cute characters and delicious smells. Not only are there a new mix of sweet scented adorable characters but there are also scented nail polish and flavoured, glitter lip gloss

We arrived at All Star Lanes and was given a time slot for our game of bowling. We was taken up stairs to a sectioned off area where there was lots of different activities for everyone to try.

20170917_120113

As soon as we entered the room, the boys quickly noticed the sweet cart, the aroma was already wafting through the door (just like the sweet smell of Num Noms).

The room was kitted out with helium balloons and Num Noms channel being played on the big screen. As we walked around we found that there was a little play area full of num noms, a nail art area where you could make up your own nail varnish, a craft area, face painting and biscuit decorating. Once the boys had filled up a bag of a mixture of yummy sweets they sat down at the craft area where they got to designing their own little character by colouring in the sheets and adding stickers.

20170917_123732

We had about an hour until it was their time to bowl so they sat down on the cushioned mat and played with the Num Noms on the floor. They had fun piling them up on top of each other and seeing how many of them they got to until the tower of Nums fell to the floor

20170917_135745

20170917_120901

They even placed them all in a line. Series 4 Nums are totally yummy! They are all inspired from baked goods: Cookies, Creme filled, fancy cakes and milk shakes

20170917_135751

There was a few tables set up for nail varnish making. Series 4 bring the new Nail Polish Maker, which includes everything you need to make your own scented polish. Along with the Cafe playset, there are polish base, colours and glitter. My boys didn’t show much interest in playing with this set but they did pinch a ready-made polish nom and gave me my very own little manicure20170917_120534

The varnish goes on very well but it does come off just as easy too.

The biscuit decorating table was very popular, so as soon as there was a space the boys made themselves comfortable at the table and waited patiently to be shown by the expert on how to decorate their Num shaped biscuit.

20170917_133009

Following the instruction and taking on what he had been taught by the biscuiteer, the youngest produced a very impressive iced biscuit. He was firstly shown how to pipe the icing into lines and dots, learning how to control the piping bag. Once he was confident in trying himself, he chose the colours that he wanted and got started.

20170917_123008

The biscuit was then put to one side to set and ready to collect later on.

After all the playing, it was time for the food. I must say, that it was very tasty. We was served up a selection of mini burgers, rice balls, mini hot-dogs, fresh fruit and chocolate brownies

20170917_124756

The boys were actually a little shocked when they bit into what they thought was a chicken burger, to find that it was in fact grilled cheese! The food really did play a little game with the taste buds. My favourite had to be the little rice balls, they were so creamy and flavoursome.

It was soon the boys turn to hit the alley and knock down the pins, in a game of bowling. They really enjoyed getting a little competitive against each other. Each attempting to get a strike every time they rolled the ball down the alley.

20170917_131659

We finished the day off with some face painting/tattoos.

20170917_130901 20170917_140210

How good are they? We did notice that some of the other attendees had gone for some glitter tattoos, my boys chose little Nums with a little glitter added on for that extra sparkle.

After 2 and a half hours of fun-filled activities and filling their faces with some delicious food it was time to leave.

20170917_140825

Thank you Num Noms for a lovely day, we really enjoyed ourselves.

Look out for the new Num Noms series 4 in the shops.

Num Noms Series 4 Has Arrived!

One of the most anticipated new-series launches has arrived in the UK… Num Noms Series 4 !
The wacky collectibles are set to bring new themes and flavours in the shape of cookies, cakes, candies and pies – delicious!
 20170729_172630
What are Num Noms?
Num Noms are cute little collectible squishy characters that are themed around yummy food, not only do they look the food but they also smell like them too. The Nums are the soft and squishy outer shell and the Noms are hard inner shell that come as Lip gloss, erasers or stamps. Stack them together to create wild and wacky combinations. And if you are brave you can then recreate the combo in the kitchen for real and dish up a surprising fun piece of food.
My son loves to collect them and has quite a little collection going on now. He prefers to have the stamp or eraser noms over the lip gloss noms but that is just because he says that they are bit girly for him ( but between you and me, he still plays with them) He plays his own little game with them and makes up stories with them. He creates a Num Nom village where he scatters the little characters about and they all have their own jobs, like Num Nom news reporters who tells the Num Nom news.
He was very excited to receive the latest series in the collectible craze.
Not only are there new flavoured Num Noms but there is also the official Num Nom magazine that is packed with fun things to do, posters, stories and games.

The Desert tray is the ultimate Num Noms collection all in one box! Mix n match Nums & Noms to create delicious flavour and scent combos! It’s a surprise which mystery Num is hidden behind the question mark.

Lunch Box Includes:

10 scented Nums; including the mystery one

2 flavoured Glittered Lip Gloss Noms

Collectors Menu

20170729_172552

The Desert Tray smells delicious, just like a cake shop. My favourites have got to be the Mocha Frappe and Mint Shake as they actually smell like their namesake. There are all sorts of new characters from B-day Surprise, Autumn Spice to Candy

20170810_115820

Have I mentioned how yummy they smell? They really do smell sweet.

Sometimes it’s hard to get the real aroma from individual Nums when they have come from a big box as I think that they pick up the scent of the other Nums.

The Cookies and Milk Num Noms Series 4.1 starter pack is the perfect little set to get started with collecting these adorable, squishy character.

What’s in the box?

3 character themed Num Noms

1 scented glitter lip gloss Nom

Tongs and Cookie Jar

20170729_172610

Included in this pack is Rainbow Crumb, Sprinkle Berry, Nilla Whip Nums and Razz Cookie lip gloss Nom

20170810_115529

I can just imagine a rainbow cookie with a berry topping and a squirt of vanilla cream.

There are 120 Num Noms in series 4 to collect to create sweet flavoured recipes with

20170810_120036

Place them in the cookie pot and stack them up

20170810_120125

The glitter lip gloss is only small but it goes a long way. It glides on the lips smoothly and leaves the lips feeling a little sticky but makes them shine.

20170810_115706

The new Num Nom magazine is packed with lots to do for the children

20170729_172559

It comes with a few little freebies too; a toy camera, a rubber key ring, party invites and a magnetic picture frame.

20170810_115922

20170729_173443

Nums in series 4 are:

Cookies – wafer, chip, fortune

Creamery – cafe drinks, smoothie, milkshakes, fro-yo

Fancy Cakes- Teacakes, Bundt

Creme Filled- Macarons, Sandwich

Baked Goods – Pies, Donuts

Pasta Nums

In each group there is a special edition Num to collect

We have packed the magazine as well as some Num Noms to take away with us on our holidays as I am sure they will keep the children entertained on the journey.

As the Nums are squishy and light they are great for taking away with you. They fit into little pockets and take up no space in a case.

Series 4 is available now to buy in shops.

We was sent a selection of Series 4 for the purpose of this review. Picture and words are my own.

INTRODUCING TESSA

6tessa

Name and Species: Tessa the Shooting Star

Personality: Radiant, enchanting, dreamy.

Mini Bio: Some say they tumbled fell from space, others believe they just pinged into existence. One thing’s certain, Shooting Stars are very special because they can whoosh around faster than the speed of light, often arriving before they left! It’s just a shame they can only communicate by twinkling and making swishy harp noises.

Habitat: Tamara Tesla says Shooting Stars are formed in slack holes beyond the Way-Outta-Sphere but most of them live in and around the Twinkly Dink Mines.

Likes: Moon dust and goopernovas.

What the boys think: Jak wishes that he was a shooting star just like Tessa, so that he could win races without even any effort lol Joseph thinks she is sweet and would definitely not place her on top of the christmas tree, but instead he would have her as his night light.

Personality: Optimistic, jaunty, cute.

Mini Bio: Knock knock! Who’s there? No, it’s not a Perky Pecker, it’s a Chipper Chaffinch. But that’s an easy mistake because these impossibly cute Moshlings are always pecking away at trees, tip-tapping messages to each other in Mosh Code. ‘Peckity… Peck… Thud.’ (Which, roughly translated, means ‘I love you too.’ Awww!)

NO.10

INTRODUCING SWIZZLE

10swizzle

Name and Species: Swizzle the Swaggering Swine

Personality: Affected, preposterous, boastful.

Mini Bio: Maybe it’s their terrible eyesight but Swaggering Swines simply can’t walk in a straight line. They usually swagger along the street in a preposterous fashion, before stopping to ‘tag’ walls with graffiti using their rubbery, ink-soaked snouts. And don’t be fooled by the blingy necklaces – they’re just great big pineapple rings!

Habitat: Head to Ker-Ching Canyon and you’re sure to see a few of these trotter-tapping characters snorting along to the latest tunes.

Likes: Pineapple rings and loud snorting.

Dislikes: Flashy Foxes and lampposts.

Rank: 150

Rarity: Rare
