Njoy Petite Star Bubble Stroller Review

Buying a buggy is like buying a new car! It has to be customised to how you want it. You have to think about the height of the handle bars, the comfort of the ride, the weight has to right if you travel a lot, the cost has to be reasonable and within budget, Is it pavement worthy and easy to use and of course the style! Us mummy’s like to look the part when pushing our little ones around, Myself i would like a stroller that is clean cut, stylish, sleek and trendy looking.

The Petite Star Bubble Is like no other, it is the first ever reversible umbrella stroller, yes that’s right its reversible! It ticks all the boxes for me on my buggy list.

The stroller lets you switch the seat between forward and parent facing in a matter of seconds and with only one hand! The back of the seat has a mechanism at the top of the seat where you pull up the handle to release it so you can move it from one position to the other without having to remove the seat from the chassis, the same handle is used to recline the positions of the seat, just make sure that when moving the seat from one side to the other that there is no baby still sitting inside as you may have a squashed screaming baby 😉

What’s in the box?

A large Canopy/hood which is reversible as well, so no need to remove it when changing seat positions

Front wheels

Head hugger for the younger baby’s head support and comfort

Chest pads and lock pad to cover the harness lock

Raincover which can be used for both positions

The stroller itself

Footmuff

Instruction manual.

The assemble of the stroller is simple

  • Release the locking which is at the side of the stroller
  • Using the handles unfold the stroller
  • Push down the pedal that is on crossbar at the back to tighten the chassis
  • Pop on the front wheels, pushing the swivel case until you hear a click
  • Slide the hood on following the runners on each side of the frame.

The harness is a five point one, they are a bit stiff at first when adjusting them to suit the fit of your child but after a while you get the hang of it, you have a choice of two heights and the straps have loops to adjust the length. The chest pads and locking pad covers the straps and are very cushioned.

To fit the footmuff you completely unzip it all the way round, making sure the harness is unclipped at the shoulder straps and the clasp is undone so that the straps are free, place the footmuff onto the seat and thread through the harness straps through the slots on the footmuff. Re-attach the harness straps to the clasp. The stroller has velcro on it at the top back of the seat and top of the footmuff so it can be securely fitted onto the seat without it slipping. The zip of the footmuff goes all the way round so the top cover can be removed when not needed. I found the footmuff to be a tight fit for Oliver but he was definitely cosy inside it and with the cold weather we was having he never once got cold, with its fleece lining he was kept very snug.

The seat area is very spacious when positioned either way, i found that when the seat is parent facing the child is completely shielded by the wind and the sun as they have extra cover from the sides of the pram. The seat reclines all the way back so with the head hugger attached it is perfect for a new-born and as the baby grows it is ideal for when they are asleep. The footrest can be positioned to stay flat or by pressing two little buttons on either side of the rest it can be placed down which is much better when they are sitting up. With the footrest placed up and the seat reclined all the way down the child then has a completely flat and comfortable place to sleep, Oliver fell asleep in his stroller just yesterday and stayed in the same position for 3 hours! so it must be very snug and comfy!

The handle bars have foam wrapped around them making them soft and cushioned and easy to grip onto, the stroller is an umbrella fold which can be done with one hand. Holding onto the one of the handles and pulling up the pedal at the back of the stroller and then pushing down on the lever at the side of it, it quickly releases the mechanism and then you push on the handles to fold it in. There is no need to clip it into place as the stroller does this itself automatically, so with one hand you can then pick it up and place it into the boot of your car. The stroller can be folded in both positions.

As i said before this stroller has a unique and innovative design where you can reverse the seat sp that the child is forward facing or parent facing and this can all be done in the matter of seconds, on each seat is the five point harness and a footrest and there is no need to remove the hood either as this is reversible too. The hood is very big and when the seat if facing towards you it can be pulled all the way forward (as long as the seat isn’t reclined) completely covering the child in the seat shielding in them from the sun and the wind. Oliver can not stand the sun in his eyes and always cries but we haven’t had this problem with the Njoy Bubble. The hood is flexible and strong and easy to move about, Oliver will often move it forward himself when he is tired. The stroller is very eye catching and i have had many comments on it especially in the playground by other parents all saying how fabulous it is and are very impressed with the concept. The pure white frame set against the black seat makes it stand out, the hood is shiny and even after using it constantly every day for the past 4 weeks it still looks brand new.

The Njoy Bubble is lightweight and so easy to push, it goes up and down kerbs and along pavements with ease, when pushing it it feels very light and with the wheels on swivel easy to manouvre. We traveled to London on the tube and buses on a couple of occasions and i found it to be easygoing and light, the stroller fits perfectly down the aisles on the buses and doesn’t take up too much room on the tubes, i often hear tuts from other passengers when parents get on with big buggies as they feel that they take up too much room but with this one i only got looks of admiration.

The stroller comes with a flexible basket underneath and because of the folding mechanism needed for the reversible stroller it probably can’t be much bigger, so not much can fit into it but it is the perfect size to slot in your raincover. The basket has zips on either side making it easier to put things into it, we have managed to store the raincover, a juice drink bottle and a sandwich box into it although i will say don’t place anything heavy under there as the basket is fabric netting and you don’t want to stretch it.

What else can i say about this stroller apart from how utterly impressed Oliver and myself are with it!
