Funny Things They Say and Do

Children can say the funniest things, and as My youngest is 2 and a half he is talking more and more each day but not always making sense and sometimes getting his words mixed up.

Whilst we was in the park early one morning, Oliver was sitting in the swing pulling a funny face. I asked him what was wrong and he told me that he needed a wee, now normally he will just take himself off to the toilet at home or make silly noises which i can interpret as his needing the toilet noise. I stopped pushing him on the swing and went to take him out…

“No Mum, I will hold it”

“You can’t hold it Oliver, I will take you over to that tree and you can wee up it” (there are no toilets in the park and we was the only people around)

Oliver looked at the tree, he looked up to the top of the tall tree and pulled a scared face

“I can’t wee up that tree Mum, it’s too big and can’t get up there” He points to the top “Can i just go at the bottom of the tree , please”

Oh dear, He must have thought that i was going to send him UP to the top of the tree to do wee as that is how he interpreted Weeing UP a tree.

Oliver has Chicken pox and I caught him wriggling around the sofa, rubbing his back backward and forwards. I had already told him that he mustn’t scratch because he will not help the spots to heal.

“Are you scratching Oliver?”

“No Mum”

He continues to wriggle about

“What are you doing then? Because it looks like you are rubbing your back on the cushion”

No Mum, I’m not scratching! I’m just moving around on the sofa, Look it’s like a little dance!”

Aah! Bless him! It must be hard for a 2 year old to understand and resist the urge to scratch.

Oliver had been asleep and woke up just after his big brothers, I brought him downstairs and put him onto the sofa. His older brother, Jak, went over to him to kiss his forehead. Oliver looked at Jak and said

“You can give me a cuddle, if you can want to?”

How adorable is that?

What have your children been saying that has made you smile?
