As I never got to bake any Christmas cakes with the boys prior to Christmas, we made up for it today.
The youngest homework from school was to make rice crispie cakes, following a recipe and talking about the science of the chocolate during the making of the cakes.
We melted a bar of chocolate in the microwave. Added in some vanilla essence. Mixed in some rice crispies. The youngest loved this part, he got quite messy. I think more ended up on the kitchen side than in the bowl.
We spooned the mixture into the cake cases, then added some toppings. We then left them in the fridge to set.
I’ve really missed spending time like this with my boys.
